The Killing of Sister George by Frank Marcus

From 16th April 2012 until 21st April 2012

Buy Tickets

Sister George is no nun, but a fictional character in a popular BBC radio soap about English village life. To boost ratings the character is axed and Mrs Mercy confronts June Buckridge who has played the part for some 2000 performances. June has a domestic relationship with Alice McNaught, who shares her home and her bed. With the impending catastrophe of June’s job loss the insecure relationship is taken advantage of and carnage and loss ensue. First performed in 1966 this play remains a wit and poignant comedy.

Quiz Night - 14th April 2012 7:30pm

The Wheatsheaf Players host an evening of:

quizzing and questions,
prizes and surprises,
answers and amusement,
fun and friendship!

Don't forget to invite your friends and family to this event - and make it quick, because this one has been advertised in the "Anagram of Murder" official souvenir programme (as sold by Ethan Flynn and others!) so it should be well supported!

Heather Evans will be our quiz-master extraordinaire again!

ALL PROCEEDS GO TOWARDS OUR "SAVE OUR STAGE" APPEAL.

Guess the Combination
Written by Administrator

Over the next few months we will be holding a competition to win a folding bike.

There is a 4 digit combination lock on the bike and to win it all you need to do is guess the combination.

So far we have been at the Coventry Cycling Festival and at the Leofric Lions Donkey Derby and despite many attempts no-one has yet managed to win.

If you would like to have a go at the competition then please give is a call at the theatre and we will let you know where and when you can enter.

All procedes from the competition will be going to the Save Our Stage fund.

Save our Stage
Written by Fundraising Comittee

As we have been in the Co-operative Theatre for 30 years and, as with everything, as it gets older it starts to show signs of wear and tear. So our current stage floor is now in need of a major overhaul, we fear it may not last till the end of the year. Due to this we have launched a 'Save our Stage' (SoS) campaign.

After all - WHAT IS A THEATRE WITHOUT ITS STAGE?

To help raise the much needed funds the Wheatsheaf Players fund raising committee will be holding local events to raise as much money as possible to be able to buy the much needed stage, which we estimate will cost in the region of £16,000 which is money we simply do not have.

In order to raise this money it is all hands to the pump at the theatre.  Some of the things we have already done are:

  • - We recently entered a team in the Coventry Fun Run and had a very wet experience running round various parts of the City.
  • - We've held two quiz nights so far and they will now be a regular feature at the theatre.
  • - We had a stall at the Coventry Transport museum Cycling festival giving people the chance to enter a competition to win a folding bike.

We have many new events we have in the pipe line. These include:

  • - Body Shop parties.
  • - Supermarket bag packs.
  • - Fun events stall at the Leofric Lions Donkey Derby at the Memorial Park.

If you would like any further information on the events mentioned or would like to make a donation please contact the theatre on 024 7645 6179 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Dulux Colouring the Community Winners
Written by Roni

Thank you to everyone who voted for us, we are very proud to announce that WE WON!

Dulux Colour Centres have kindly given us a dontation of paint to help with the redecoration of the auditorium and stage area.

The theatre is now looking bright and shiny after its fresh coat of blue paint. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the painting over the weekend, without you we could not have achieved this.
